A birthday celebration of lecturers and gurus around the nation, Teachers’ Day is celebrated every year on 5th September, a day that coincides with the birthday of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan — the former President of India. Dr. Radhakrishnan had said that “teachers should be the best minds in the country”.
And it is this belief of his that is honored on the day. As discussed previously, the day is a party of teachers. But what’s the importance of commemorating the day at the former President’s birthday? Dr. Radhakrishnan was a teacher par excellence himself, and Buddhist philosopher Nagarjun’s sutram in Pali — ‘shikshanam shrenitam, rida shesham’ (teaching is the noblest profession and the rest doesn’t matter) — was believed to be his motto in life.
Teachers Day is one such tournament for which scholars and academics similarly look ahead to. Teachers’ Day is necessary for the scholars because it offers them an opportunity to understand the efforts put in by their academics to make sure that they get a correct schooling. Similarly, teachers additionally stay up for the Teachers’ Day party as their efforts get recognized and honored through students and other agencies as neatly.
Teacher’s Day
On Teachers Day, students hold different activities to entertain teachers at schools and colleges. These activities include singing competition, dance competition, recitation of poems, mimicry of teachers, lots of games children play with teachers, plan a picnic, offer gifts and at last, they thank teachers by expressing their gratitude.
Teachers Day is a great occasion for celebrating and enjoying the relationship between teachers and students. So, try to meet your teachers on the day and convey your wishes. If they are far then send them a message and make his/her day memorable.
